n traditional tower defense games you are required to defend an established path. This can be accomplished by commanding your builder to construct defensive spires along the path. Creeps then run through while your towers pelt them with arrows, cannon balls, magic flames, poison arrows and much more. When playing a defend your path game you need to figure out where the optimal locations for your towers are, the right towers combinations to build, which order to build them and how to upgrade.
In Desktop TD and Autumn Crossing creeps aren’t required to follow a path. They will find the shortest route from the starting to the ending location. You are free to build a maze with your towers in order to prolong their journey. This added dimension really increases the strategy involved.
